Daylily - For Rena

My sister passed away in December 2025

She was 18 mths older than me.  Her birthday was yesterday, July 13.

I have typed words to tell you about her, and I have deleted them.   It's all still fresh and difficult.

I will share more when I can.

For now I want to share her song.   I wrote it for her last year and sent it to her on her birthday.

It's a song about hope.  A reminder that every new day is a new start.

I asked a young lady named Addison in our homeschool community to draw a Daylily I could frame and send along with the song to Rena for her birthday. Addison actually shares the same birthday with my sister.

Yesterday Addison turned 16.   Yesterday Rena spent her first birthday in heaven.

Yesterday I sent Rena's song to my mom and dad, my sister Tonia, and my brother Jeffrey.

Today I want to share it with you.  A reminder that there is hope.  Every new day is a new start.

Whoever you are, where ever you are…
"Keep shining… today is a new start"

Warren Barfield (Rena called me, Jr.)
